Where to explore Leo Frank's records online

An engineering diploma and a marriage certificate are among the personal records identified in a guide connecting readers with Leo Frank collections.

Leo Frank's engineering diploma and marriage certificate appear near the beginning of an online guide to records connected with his life. The diploma is dated 1906; the certificate records his 1910 marriage to Lucille Selig. Both entries credit the Breman Museum.

The Digital Library of Georgia guide gives readers a way to locate these personal records and many other materials. It groups collections by the institutions that hold them, including the Atlanta History Center, Georgia Archives, National Archives and Breman Museum. A reader can follow a document back to its custodian.

Making records easier to find was also the purpose of a 2023–2024 collaboration between DLG and the Breman Museum's Ida Pearle and Joseph Cuba Archives for Southern Jewish History. University of Georgia Libraries reported that the partners digitized and described Frank-related materials for free online access. A subgrant supplied technical services for that work.

Frank's Atlanta prosecution followed the 1913 murder of thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan. The guide connects readers with material from several parts of that history: personal papers, newspaper searches and online exhibitions. It also includes instructions for navigating the collections.

Start with the diploma or the marriage certificate, then follow the institution named beside it. A familiar case name becomes an entry into records kept in different places, each with its own description and history of care.
